Campaign funding: Harris cleans up in NJ

Very interesting story with all kinds of breakdowns telling who donated to Harris the most (age, occupational group, etc.)

Charts, graphs, all you data analysts will love this.

More than 16,300 NJ residents contributed to VP’s campaign in days after Biden dropped out of presidential race

Here are a few choice paragraphs:

Contributions by ZIP code
The analysis of the July data shows that Harris got a big financial boost from some areas of the state that had not been generous to Biden. Among the top ZIP codes contributing to Harris were 07901 in Summit ($74,000) and 07302 in Jersey City ($65,000). Atop the list was 08540 in Princeton ($125,000), which had been the top contributor to Biden through June 30.

Here are a few by zip code:

I notice they broke out my former home town, Montclair, into Montclair and Upper Montclair. Wonder why they did that? When I lived there and people asked me where I was from, I would say "Upper Montclair" and get corrected: It's just Montclair, I would be told.

New Jersey donors who were retired or not working were the biggest contributors to Harris, giving more than $1 million in late July. Attorneys ($159,000) and doctors ($73,000) followed. Of those employed, $287,000 came from those reporting they were self-employed, followed by $33,000 from those working at Rutgers University and $21,000 from Google employees.

I was born in Montclair, closer to Bloomfield Avenue (trolley still ran then, I'm old). Is Tierney's considered Upper? SheilaAnn Aug 27 #1

I love that place. The RG and I used to go there all the time for a burger.

Then we switched to a healthier diet.

But yum.
