Rep. Bill Pascrell, Jr. was in good spirits on Monday, a day after the he was admitted to St. Josephs University Medical Center in Paterson while suffering from a fever, his chief of staff said.
We spoke to the congressman this morning. He said he was running a fever and checked himself into St. Joes last night to evaluate, said Pascrells chief of staff, Ben Rich, said in a statement. He is in good spirits today and awaiting test results and appreciates all well wishes.
Rich said Pascrell joked that even though he was a bit under the weather, he wouldnt mind having a cold one brought to his hospital room. He also told us he was actively looking for a beer if anyone can help, Rich said.
A former mayor of Paterson, Pascrell, 87, was first elected to Congress in 1996 and is the oldest member of the New Jersey delegation. He has been reelected twice since undergoing open heart surgery just before the Democratic primary in June of 2020.
