Volunteer chief charged with criminal sexual contact at N.J. fire house
A volunteer fire chief was charged with touching the breasts of a woman from another emergency services agency at a Burlington County, N.J., firehouse, authorities said Friday. Delanco Fire Department Chief Todd R. Johnsen faces one count of criminal sexual contact, according to Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina and Delanco Township Police Chief Jesse DeSanto.
The woman alerted Delanco police about the alleged June 19 encounter inside the Delanco Fire House, where she went for work purposes, Coffina and DeSanto said in a joint statement.
The investigation revealed that Johnsen entered the room where the victim was seated at a table, then leaned over and wrapped his arms around her, the statement said. It is alleged that Johnsen placed an arm under her breasts and pushed them up as he put his head down on top of her breasts, leaving it there for several seconds before removing himself from her and walking away.
Johnsen, 45, is scheduled for a Dec. 6 hearing in Central Judicial Processing Court, according to the prosecutors office. It was unclear if he had a defense attorney who could comment on the allegation. Fire company and township officials could not be immediately reached.
