Man lying on N.J. Turnpike dies after he's run over

A 40-year-old man was killed late Tuesday when he was struck by a car while lying down on the New Jersey Turnpike, authorities said.

Miguel Sanchez, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, was “laying in the roadway when he was struck by a (car),” according to State Police Sgt. Philip Curry.

The incident occurred shortly after 11 p.m. on the highway’s inner roadway at milepost 104.9 in Newark, Curry said.

The southbound inner roadway was closed for about five hours, resulting in minor traffic delays, Curry said.
