World Series: Houston win could mean a Democratic year in New Jersey, while history says Washington helps GOP


One thing politicians and baseball fans have in common is that they are often superstitious.

That’s why the 2019 World Series might be a predictor of next week’s mid-term elections in New Jersey.

The last time Washington won the World Series was in 1924.

Republicans picked up four congressional seats, five State Assembly seats and a State Senate seat the year the Washington Senator became the World Champions.

Calvin Coolidge carried New Jersey that year with 62% of the vote, carrying every county but Hudson. U.S. Senator Walter Edge won a second term with 62% against Trenton Mayor Frederick Donnelly.
