Atlantic City mayor pleads guilty to wire fraud

CAMDEN, N.J. (KYW Newsradio) — Atlantic City Frank Gilliam Jr. pleaded guilty to wire fraud in federal court in Camden Thursday morning.

Gilliam has admitted to stealing $87,000 from the AC Stars, a youth basketball league, between 2013 and 2018.

Gilliam used a good amount of that money for personal expenses. According to documents filed in federal court, half the money was recovered from Gilliam's home when FBI agents raided it last December. At the time, agents carried off numerous cardboard boxes and computer equipment, but they had remained silent about why they were there and what they had taken away.
