Cops add murder charge against N.J. man accused of kidnapping councilman’s grandson, who was abducted delivering food


The man charged with kidnapping the grandson of Camden’s city council president was also charged with his murder, Camden County authorities announced Wednesday afternoon.

Police arrested Brandon Beverly, 32, of Woodbury, on kidnapping and aggravated assault charges Tuesday, hours before Curtis Jenkins III’s body was discovered in a home on the 1100 block of Liberty Street in Camden at 10:10 p.m. Tuesday.

Jenkins III, 20, is the grandson of Camden City Council President Curtis Jenkins Sr.

On Wednesday, a second probable cause affidavit in the case detailed more of what investigators believe led to Jenkins III’s death.
