Monetary settlement reached in Burlington County jail death

MOUNT HOLLY >> It’s been three years since 50-year-old Jerome Iozzia died in Burlington County Jail.

For his fiancee Jasmine Rodriguez, it’s been three years of tears, three years of sleepless nights and three years of telling her two sons that everything will be okay.

Perhaps now she won’t have to worry so much anymore.

The negligent death lawsuit filed by Iozzia’s estate eight months after his demise was settled out of court last month for more than a quarter of a million dollars, according to documents obtained by The Trentonian through a series of public record requests.

The settlement prohibits Rodriguez and her attorney Robert Fuggi from publicly discussing details of the case. But the agony Iozzia experienced during the three months of incarceration prior to his death is clearly shown through jailhouse letters, medical documents and witness accounts reported by The Trentonian over the past three years.
