Top Trump allies warn against 'radical' Democratic agenda at Laxalt's annual GOP Basque Fry
America is under siege and the future of the country is at stake if President Donald Trump isn’t re-elected next year.
That was the blunt message delivered by a host of prominent Trump allies at Saturday’s fifth annual Basque Fry, where around 1,300 attendees heard hours of ominous warnings about socialism, gun grabs and the “radical and extreme” agenda put forward by progressive 2020 Democratic presidential hopefuls.
The event lost two headliners at the last minute — ex-Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke and former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski. Lewandowski was called to testify in front of Congress as part of an ongoing investigation into possible obstruction of justice by the president. Zinke’s flight was cancelled, event organizers said.
The remaining speakers delivered no shortage of crowd-pleasing criticisms aimed at everything from the Green New Deal and alleged voter fraud, to plastic straw bans and the “lamestream media.”
