Mail-in election on April 15 will decide on sales tax increase

allots are being mailed to registered voters in Lindsay who will decide whether the village will implement a 1.5% sales tax.

Ballots were mailed last Monday, according to election commissioner Eryn Roberts. The special election is Tuesday, April 15.

Members of the Lindsay Village Board of Trustees approved at the Feb. 3 meeting a resolution for a special election on the proposed sales tax.

If approved, the sales tax, which is on all taxable items according to the state, will raise the local sales tax from 5.5% to 7%.

The deadline to register to vote at an agency, with a deputy registrar or by mail was Friday.
