York Public Schools puts school bond issue on November ballot

YORK, Neb. (KSNB) - York Public School officials are looking to expand their elementary school, and their hoping voters say yes to a bond issue for the project.

The bond issue the district is seeking is worth $39.5 million. York Public Schools Superintendent, Mitch Bartholomew, said the elementary school in the city is lacking space.

One aspect is the classrooms, which Bartholomew said are overcrowded with multiple rooms having 25 to 27 students in them.

Another, is the school district is looking to address is their cafeteria and kitchen space, which YPS officials report is the smallest one in the district. They also want to add more indoor activity space, cause right now they have no space for indoor recess and their gym is cramped.
