Christi Jacobsen: Montana absentee ballots mailed to voters Friday

HELENA — Absentee ballots are on the way to Montana's active, registered absentee voters, Secretary of State Christi Jacobsen announced in a press release Friday.

"Montana's 56 county election offices are mailing absentee ballot packets to registered absentee voters today as the 2024 General Election is well underway," Jacobsen said. "As a reminder, Montanans can track their absentee ballot using the resources available at VoteMT.gov. They can also find their sample ballot and polling place while confirming their voter registration information is correct.

"State and local election officials are honored to assist all Montana voters."

Jacobsen said roughly 500,000 absentee ballot packets have been issued. Montana's 2024 General Election Absentee Ballot Count by County report is available on the Secretary of State's website (https://sosmt.gov/elections/absentee-ballot-count/).

Montana does, besides having 2/3 of the voting population using mail ballots, is they give you all kinds of opportunities to register to vote. If you get a piece of mail from almost any state agency, there's a voter registration form included. I renewed my driver's license last week and one of the first things they ask is if I want to register to vote. I really like part. But if you live on a reservation, a very different story.
