BILLINGS – Montana bull riding world champion Jess Lockwood and his brother Jake are facing criticism after insensitive messages from their Twitter accounts were posted Monday disparaging Native Americans.

One day after the PBR World Finals concluded in Las Vegas where Jess Lockwood was competing, a tweet was sent from his verified Twitter account that read: “So Jake literally pissed his pants laughing at this rezzer that stopped us outside the Indian depot,” followed by a laughing emoji with tears streaming down its face.

One minute later, a tweet was posted from the account of Jake Lockwood that read: “Drunk rezzer- can i ask you a favor? Me- ya what do you need? Drunk rezzer- what do i need?…i got water! #noDAPL #WaterIsLife”

#noDAPL is a hashtag that was popular during protests of the Dakota Access Pipeline in North Dakota, which galvanized tribes from around the region in support of the Standing Rock Sioux’s claims their water quality was threatened. ... #WaterIsLife was another popular hashtag from those protest in 2016 and 2017 ... Both tweets have since been deleted.

1. I am an unlikely PBR fan.

The bull atheletes are incredible.
We always cheer for them.

We have always found the riders to be ultra-conservative. And pretty cliche in an interview.

Not at all surprising.

With no satellite or cable, I watch what CBS shows over the air on its local affiliate. I can't watch PBR on the CBS Sports Network, and I don't have PBR Ridepass either. All I get is two or three hours per month in the spring and the fall.

The season ended last week in Las Vegas. There will be no more PBR broadcast until the tour starts up again at Madison Square Garden in early January.

The Wrangler National Finals Rodeo is coming in Las Vegas in two weeks. No one broadcasts anything that I can get; it's on the CBS Sports Network.

What I do see of PBR has been, lately, the 15/15 Bucking Battles. They often end bulls, 1; cowboys, 0.

3. We are mostly "vintage" PBR fans...

Justin McBride, Chris Shivers, Ty Murray.

It got a bit too big for us We liked when we knew all the Bulls and riders. Dillanger. Little Yellow Jacket. Strawberry Wine, Locomotive Breath.

Sort of like NASCAR. Though we have never been fans of that.
