?cb=1669646015Dense fog blanketed St. Louis on Saturday as Patterson's plane flew over the city so much so that Patterson's flight had to divert to Kansas City to wait for the fog to lift.
But in the meantime, Patterson, who dabbles in photography as a hobby, snapped the most otherworldly pic of St. Louis on his phone.
It's a view of St. Louis as most have never seen it before. Patterson's picture shows only the city's tallest buildings peeping through Saturday's fog, as if the city ascended into a sea of clouds.

(19,007 posts)pretty often in 2019 and I loved seeing the city come into view as I drove down Broadview Road into the valley. I was driving in early one day, and fog had entirely enveloped the city. It was like it had been erased. No pictures, just the memory of a cityscape, missing.
Thanks for the reminder

(17,274 posts)in a dorm room up on the 'bluff' of Pittsburgh - Duquesne University - and a fog was covering all of downtown - except the new U.S. Steel building - standing out there in the midst of nothing but a blanket of fog. Obviously a moment and view to never forget.
GREAT PICTURE - thanks for posting...............

(25,595 posts)Such is the nature of Mississippi river ground fog. You can see stuff through it, and sticking up above it .. but RVR (runway visual range) is zero. I'd usually get in, when the vis improved slightly, flying a Cat-3 autoland approach. But sometimes it was off to the alternate .. usually KMCI (Kansas City).
