Missouri voters already rejected RTW; don't sign petition to put it back on the ballot

https://labortribune.com/missouri-voters-already-rejected-rtw-dont-sign-petition-to-put-it-back-on-the-ballot

Just a few short months after Missouri voters overwhelming rejected Proposition A, a new petition could place another so-called “right-to-work” (RTW) initiative on the 2020 ballot.

Missouri Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft has certified a petition submitted by former GOP chair Todd Graves that would allow Missouri voters to make Missouri a RTW state through a constitutional amendment.

“We made a statement last year,” the Missouri AFL-CIO said in a statement. “We DO NOT want ‘right-to-work.’ Yet greedy CEOs are trying to bring it up again. Know before you sign any petition.”

It will take more than 160,000 valid signatures to put a RTW amendment on the 2020 ballot; if enough voters ignore the petition drive, a right-to-work amendment can’t go forward.

this issue again in front of us just after the first failed attempt for RTW (was sounded defeated too)?

hopefully folks are smart enough to not sign the petition and this can all be put to bed once and for all.

The GOP simply cannot take NO for an answer when they want to serve their corporate masters.

they are bringing this up again. You're right. They can't take NO for an answer. Perhaps we need to put an amendment counter to their amendment proposal, that will prohibit any RTW amendment, language, or effort ever to grace any of MO's ballots in the future or be addressed by the legislature in any shape, form, or fashion.

For my whole life, well, as I became an older teenager/young adult in the 80s "RIGHT TO WORK IS A RIPOFF" has been everywhere, almost like our state motto or something. And yet, a majority of the voters in this state seem to consistently vote for republicans who keep trying to force this issue down the throats of the working people. UGH!

I wish there was an easy way to SHOW the people in this state that the folks they keep wanting to put in office are the ones who care the least about most of them.

this kinda thing will help convince a few of those who vote against their own best interest that they are doing just that. The GOP has propaganda down to a fine science and convincing any of the indoctrinated of anything is always an uphill battle, but the wackier the GOP/Faux Noise gets, perhaps there is hope that they will turn some folks off.
