McCaskill to miss votes because of husband's heart surgery

WASHINGTON • Sen. Claire McCaskill will be in St. Louis Friday when her husband, Joseph Shepard, has heart surgery.

McCaskill, D-Mo., will miss two scheduled votes, her spokesman, John LaBombard, said.

One missed vote will be the confirmation of Rep. Tom Price, R-Ga., to be President Donald Trump's director of Health and Human Services. That was scheduled for late Thursday night or early Friday morning.

The other will be a procedural vote to move the debate forward on Trump's nomination of Steven Mnuchin to be treasury secretary.
