More than 5,400 expected to attend Womens March on St. Louis
More than 5,400 are planning to take to the streets Saturday, Jan. 21 as part of a march and rally in St. Louis to show unity in the fight for the rights of women and other marginalized groups.
The Womens March on St. Louis, which coincides with the national event Womens March on Washington in Washington D.C., will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in downtown St. Louis. The event is inclusive, and all women, men and children are welcome to attend.
We are so excited with the amount of energy surrounding the event, said Valerie Brinkmann, one of the St. Louis organizers. We encourage all participating to watch the weather forecast and dress accordingly because this event is happening no matter what.
The theme of the event is: March. Rally. Act. The march will begin near Union Station at Market and 18th streets, proceed east on market and end at Luther Ely Smith Park at 1 Memorial Dr. The route is about a mile, and its expected to take about an hour.
