Pfizer to move to new 200 million Chesterfield campus, keep 450 jobs

Pfizer Inc. plans to consolidate its St. Louis area research and development operations into a new $200 million facility in Chesterfield, company officials said Tuesday.

The pharmaceutical giant currently has operations in the Missouri Research Park in Weldon Spring and on Monsanto’s Chesterfield research campus, where it leases space from the agriculture company. Pfizer said it will keep its existing workforce of 450 jobs in the St. Louis region and add about 80 people over the next several years.

About 70 people work in Weldon Spring.

Construction firm Clayco and its development subsidiary CRG will begin building the new campus at 875 Chesterfield Parkway West by the middle of 2017. When construction is complete around 2020, Pfizer will lease the new space from Clayco and CRG. The 32-acre piece of land just south of Pfizer’s current office is owned by Sachs Properties Inc.

The length of the lease was not available, a Pfizer spokeswoman said.
