Visiting university basketball team’s gear stolen before game with St. Mary's
SAN ANTONIO - An out-of-town women's university basketball team was robbed of their gear and unable to play during St. Mary's University Thanksgiving Classic on Saturday.
The Missouri Science and Technology Lady Miners announced via their website that uniforms, shoes and even identifications were stolen from Lady Miner's vehicles on their way to a 5:15 p.m. game at St. Mary’s.
St. Mary’s Athletics spokesman Chad Peters said the game could not be postponed as their flight to return home was set to leave Saturday evening following the game.
The men’s team was also in town for the tournament but their vehicles were not broken into.
