Police officers shot during protest in Ferguson

Two police officers have been shot during a protest outside a police station in the US city of Ferguson, Missouri, witnesses said.

The shooting occurred early on Thursday morning after several dozen protesters had gathered in front of the Ferguson police department, just hours after the city's police chief, Thomas Jackson, announced his resignation.

A few dozen demonstrators fled following the sound of gunfire around midnight with some screaming, "They hit a cop," according to a Reuters photographer at the scene.

1. It may not be as it seems

The shooting could very well have been done by white factions to create more race hatred. This is not a new tactic. Remember the 60's!
These were not life threatening injuries.

As someone that protested in the 60s I can tell you there were instigators that were NOT part of the movement! They were there just to cause problems against the cause.
I can see the KKK nut cases shooting these cops to blame a black person.

there is little information beyond the initial reports. That is why I linked to Al Jazeera to avoid the hyper conjecture of what is often confused with journalism in this country.
