Lauderdale County Board of Supervisors approves purchase of new voting machines for upcoming election cycle
MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) - The Lauderdale County Election Commission is getting some new hardware for the coming election cycle.
In Mondays Board of Supervisors meeting, the Board approved the purchase of new voting machines for the coming election season, upgrading the aging DS200 systems to the newer DS300 machines.
As you know, our voting machines are nothing but computers, and every so often you have to upgrade those computers. This is our 10th year with the DS-200, were upgrading to the DS-300, said Gloria Dancy, with the Lauderdale County Election Commission. There will not be much difference in it. The public will vote the same on these machines as they did on the previous machines.
47 new machines have been ordered for Lauderdale Countys 37 precincts, with one to be placed at the Government Complex out ahead of the Elections for Absentee Voting.
