COVID-19 hotline number emailed by Mississippi agency goes to 'America's hottest talk line'

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency accidentally directed officials to report people not complying with the state's coronavirus regulations to what seemed to be a phone sex line.

An email sent to emergency management agency directors outlined steps to take when people do not comply with isolation and quarantine orders. The information in the message appeared to have originated from the Mississippi State Department of Health.

It told emergency management directors to call a 1-877 number.

However, the number was not what it seemed, as first reported by WLBT-TV reporter Therese Apel on Twitter.
