2. Ironically, Gov. Walz approved outdoor dining for bars/restaurants just a few days ago

enclosures are allowed but have to be open on 2 sides though from some of the pictures / videos in the news, it doesn't look quite that strict, like it's not the WHOLE sides being open. Dunno the exactiness of it. Anyway the FREEDOM & CONSTITUTION crowd are pointing to pictures like this to argue that Walz hates America and all that it stands for (FREEDUM and LIBERTY) and all that, and he was/is playing a joke on the business owners with this outdoors-in-December-and-January dining is allowed.

4. Used to live in New Ulm,

have to say,slogged through a few of those Blizzard's. Living in the Minnesota River Bottoms,one can expect at least one major Blizzard each year.

5. Yesterday there were blizzard warnings in the metro which is rare.

We may get strong winds and some blowing snow but there are usually enough buildings to block it from being a full scale blizzard.

6. Checked a couple Storm Chaser Blogs

off and on yesterday. Sure as heck was one ugly day to be out in . Been away for almost two decades,understand yesterdays Blizzard was the worst since 2010. Winds from the Northwest like yesterday,really make one of these suckers that much worse.

The Niece called at 8 am yesterday,she had about a foot of new snow and the winds were pushing 60 plus. She sent a couple of text pics,pure white out ugly. She pictures at 4 pm,wind was still howling but all the snow was piled up along the fence lines with the fields completely bare. Just another old time Minny Blizzard.

7. I'm in Bloomington and we actually didn't wind up with too much snow

- but it blew around like crazy so it's hard to say just how much we got here. Though it started with rain and the roads are still pretty icy today.

I know conditions were awful out around Olivia (Renville County). Gov. Walz had the National Guard open the armory there for stranded travelers. My cousin was grateful as it meant her son didn't have to drive home from work. (They live on 212 between Hector & Bird Island - some nasty open stretches along that route.)

8. Know that stretch of 212

pretty well. That area gets pretty ugly with a hard Northwest Wind. All the snow blows off the open ground and dumps it right in the middle of the highway. Sounds like your side of town was sparred compared to the Northwest Side.

10. That area is bad for blizzards

grew up in Renville county; sister farms in B.I.

That whole area used to be slough; my grandfather told me once that he skated from Hector to Buffalo Lake (5 miles).

and my dad was from Buffalo Lake. I spent a lot of time in Hector at my maternal grandparents. Paternal side moved up to Minneapolis in the 40s.

A couple of my cousins are still in Bird Island.
