ROCHESTER, Minn. A southern Minnesota television reporter who wore a Make America Great Again hat to a Trump rally that he was covering has been fired.
James Bunner was a multimedia journalist for KTTC-TV in Austin. He wore the hat Thursday while covering President Donald Trumps appearance in Rochester and images of him wearing the hat began appearing on Twitter.
News Director Noel Sederstrom says the station does not allow staff members to cover stories while wearing apparel from political campaigns. Sederstrom says Bunner was fired Friday.
Bunner doesnt have a listed phone number and didnt immediately return a social media message seeking comment Friday.

(116,766 posts)James Bunner, the KTTC-TV multimedia journalist fired for wearing a "Make America Great Again" hat at a Trump rally, has been offered a job by the campaign of GOP Secretary of State candidate John Howe.
Tim Droogsma, campaign manager for the Howe campaign, said Howe is prepared to offer Bunner a job. Problem is, the campaign can't locate him.
"We haven't been able to make contact with him yet," Droogsma said. "We would like to hire him if we could get in touch with him."
