Yes, I know, the library, but we have many. I really wish there was a place, like senior housing, that have libraries that can use books. I have many mysteries, many out of print, that would hate to see just turn into pulp. I once was at the half price books and they were willing to take everything and I think they were going to 'handle" them.
There is the Women in Jail project but, again, I am not sure how many they would like to take.
And I've heard about organizations that ship books overseas, where they do not have access to books in English and, I suppose, not to the Internet.
This is the problem. So many now read eBooks..
I don't need to sell them, or even to take tax deductions. I'd just hate to see them thrown out..

(121,320 posts)The one my dad lived in had a library, and when he died we gave them most of his books and they were pleased to have them. If your town has Little Free Libraries you can just stick some of them in one of those.

(21,946 posts)Most were gone within a couple of days. I put them in categories and offered each one, plus they come and get them, don't have to haul them anyplace.

(60,011 posts)Esp. the hard to find, out of print ones. They will pay postage plus book price they set. Someone here was talking about that just the other day.
I know for a fact they are looking for a book I have, will pay 15.00.... at the time.... for it.
You might want to check any of your known out of print books with the site.
I have same problem you do, but live in a very remote area so Freecycle and etc. are not gonna work for me. Most of my books are non-fiction, most people down here read fiction. My only option is to give them to the library for their annual sale, but the library has tons of books in storage already.

(49,003 posts)and I really cannot see myself stuffing it with books.
I may start with the library - having a book sale in two weeks. I can start with a Minnesota favorite - Joanne Fluke.
