University of Minnesota regents will review sexual assault case involving Gophers football players

The University of Minnesota’s Board of Regents will oversee a review of the school’s handling of a sexual assault case involving Gophers football players.

Board Chair Dean Johnson announced Friday that the review, which will be conducted by the University’s chief auditor, should be completed by May.

The review will “clarify and confirm accountability for actions taken” and will “identify areas of improvement to address similar matters in the future,” according to the resolution.

The University’s investigation of the sexual assault case involving a student and several football players has been widely criticized.
