Former college basketball star Royce White has officially announced that hes making a run for Congress. White has no party affiliation that I am aware of. White has shown anti-vaxxer leanings, though. Royce White was one of the great players out of college basketball (2012 draft after one year of play) but is haunted by phobia and to my eye too damaged by emotional scars to be an effective representative of the 5th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives, which includes Minneapolis and surrounding suburbs.

No party affiliation but his video features Bannon at the intro? Ugh.

(54,816 posts)A lot of people are frustrated with Omar, but they'll leave the ballot blank rather than vote for this guy.

(11,869 posts)Omar is a symbol of courage, ability, and is devoted to her constituents. She is additionally visibly because of the disrespect (layers of hatred really) thrown at her. I am rather fond of her and deeply moved by her commitment to the USA despite all the evil thrown at her. She is a beautiful example of a REAL American as opposed to the freaks on the Right whose pursuit of power and wealth is sickening and do not Govern at all.
White's run is a joke and kind of shows the characters attracted to Republican ideals.

(54,816 posts)But it's MN-05 that elects her. When I did phone banking for the last election, I can't tell you how many people told me they would vote straight Dem except for Omar. Of course, in Minneapolis, the Dem is always going to win. The only chance is in the primary, and even then it's slim. The Twin Cities seats are essentially inherited fiefdoms.

(11,869 posts)She had a viable primary challenger last time who only got like 38% of the vote.
