Michigan women sue Airbnb after vacation home turns into "house of horror"

(Detroit Free Press) Just a day before Halloween, several women have filed a lawsuit against Airbnb and the owners of an Alpena home after they said they experienced a "horror movie" fright while renting the house earlier this year.

The women rented the Victorian-style house – nicknamed "The Castle" – to celebrate their 50th high school reunion in late July, according to a press release from Marko Law. The women had an ordinary, pleasant experience at The Castle for the first three days of their stay, before the fourth night plunged them into a sleepless, scream-filled night of terror, the Detroit based law firm said.

The women were going to bed on July 26 when two of the women staying in the large turret room were awoken by screeching sounds and a dark shape flitting around the room, the lawsuit said. They screamed and ran to the hallway, slamming the door shut behind them and stuffing blankets under the door to seal off the room.

....(snip)....

They tried to escape the house but found the stairwell "consumed with bats," according to the press release. They scrambled back into their bedrooms and blocked the doors with window sashes, towels and pillows, but the bats continued to enter the room through the old lathe walls and gaps in the baseboards. ..........................(more)

We had about 20 grade school girls at camp in an old cabin that belonged to the Presbyterian church -in the Sandia Mountains. Staff were sleeping in a tiny cabin right next to the big cabin where the girls were . All of a sudden the kids were screaming & hysterical including my young daughter.

Bats were flying over the kids heads. In the rain - we had to walk them about a half mile to the boys cabin in the night.
The next yr - someone got rabies from staying in that cabin and it was condemned.

Wonder Why

A garlic rub on the steaks give them double purpose. If the bats don't show up, I celebrate with the steaks.
