Got my first road kill today. Fresh and very little damage. One or two more and I wont take my rifle with me to deer camp this year.
Was headed to town and the Post Office. Less than a mile and there he was. Spent all day cutting him up and loading the freeze. Lot of work and it took most of the day. Called the DNR to register him and they thanked me for cleaning up our roads, my pleasure.

(24,107 posts)everyone there has hit a deer, they are so prevalent, and the woods are so thick, that by the time you see a deer when driving down the road, there's the deer and you barely have time enough to swerve and attempt to miss the deer, and not lose control of the vehicle and hit the forest on either side. As neighbors, when we saw a roadkill, we contacted one of our neighbors who would come and get the deer, they relied upon the meat.
