After negotiating with Unemployment for the last 15 months, I just checked with the website, and it appears I no longer owe $8,000! It was all their fault, but to deal with a government body like that is just about impossible!

(7,629 posts)Had an issue under Snyders admin they retroactively changed my home from residential and hit me with a huge tax bill. My home was never reclassified. But because assessment people had wandered into my garage and noted wiring was heavy duty and looked like commercial they had reclassified me because that word was used. My pleas fell on deaf ears and bucks were passed my local authority said they had not reclassified me and nothing had changed for 35 years. I had to go through three appeals before it was fixed. Much anxiety and screaming at assholes in power.

(2,880 posts)True words. Whenever dealing with the government about money it is always a long painful stress test. Good job getting through it. Be sure to take a screen shot of that and put it in the file!

(3,579 posts)still working after they had fired me. It took months and an adjudication hearing, but they couldn't prove I was still working after they had fired me.

(8,008 posts)She was able to resolve it but they still owe her money. We'd probably need a lawyer to actually get it. The bureaucracy is way understaffed and set to not work in favor of releasing money.
