No biggie, just a "graveyard" of mail-sorting machines outside a postal facility in Michigan

No biggie, just a "graveyard" of mail-sorting machines outside a postal facility in Michigan, a swing state in which Trump is currently polling very poorly. Just totally normal stuff that happens in a democracy and definitely not anything worth worrying about.

I understand the probable future need to retool USPS facilities to handle less envelope and flat mailings than packages, but everyone knew mail in ballot applications and returned ballots would be much greater than usual this Presidential election year because of the pandemic. Give one good reason this could not have waited until AFTER the election!!!

Timing is everything.

They will have to be replaced for many billions if not trillions of dollars. This is beyond comprehension.

Who will benefit from having to make more machines for the replacement of the ones they trashed? Follow the money.

This puzzles me, and it has since I noticed on the USPS map of targeted areas (there is a thread on here).
Grand Rapids is strongly republican. Betsy DeVoss, et al.
Why slow the mail there? Unless it is a pure money grab as suggested above.

for processing. Since 2014 when they decided to stop using the Collins Road site in Lansing.

It never made sense that mailing a letter across town in Lansing had to be trucked to Grand Rapids. Not sure how something so inefficient was saving any money.
