Michigan: Images of the Great Lakes State

Michigan is unique, surrounded by Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, and Lake Erie, the state touts the longest freshwater coastline in the United States—3,288 miles, including islands. Here are a few glimpses into the landscape of the state of Michigan, and some of the animals and people calling it home.

This photo story is part of Fifty, a collection of images from each of the United States.

I have been to Michigan a few times and there's just a FEEL to that state - it's quite unique.

born and a resident of Michigan until 1980

memories... picking cherries in South Haven... Tai Chi on the dunes of Lake Michigan... my first and only cigarette during my 16th summer at camp in Northern Michigan... walking across the Mackinaw Bridge... eating fudge on Mackinaw Island... seeing the Dali movie at Marquette University... climbing on the Cascades in Jackson... and more... so many memories but mostly walking with my Grandmother in Eaton Rapids at the VFW Home where she was a lifelong house mother to dozens of kids over the years
