MI-SOS: Michigan lottery commissioner (D) resigns to launch bid for secretary of state in 2026
Suzanna Shkreli is the latest to throw her hat into the 2026 election arena, with aims to join the secretary of state race after she resigned from her post as the state’s Lottery commissioner.
Shkreli announced Monday morning her intentions to seek the Michigan Democratic Party nomination for the executive office that oversees elections, vehicle registrations and other important state business.
“My parents came to this country to flee authoritarianism,” Shkreli wrote on social media. “Now as those same threats take root here at home, I’m ready to defend our democracy, protect our Constitution, and safeguard Michiganders’ right to vote.”
A campaign launch video highlights Shkreli’s career as the Michigan Lottery commissioner and as a Macomb County assistant prosecutor, while also gearing up for an ice hockey match.
