Ingham County Clerk is reporting Absentee Ballot turn in rates

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The countdown clock is ticking down to November 5, 2024 and election day. Right now, we’re 23 days out from the polls opening.

But, voters in Michigan have been receiving and returning absentee ballots. The votes cast in those ballots can be counted by any voting jurisdiction — township or city — in Michigan on election day. But jurisdictions with a population of more than 5000 can began pre-processing the ballots up to 8 days before the election. The results, however, are not known until after the polls close on election day.

Tracking how many absentee ballots have been requested and sent out and how many of them have been returned has become a fairly simple process with computerization. And Ingham County Clerk Barb Byrum has taken to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, to share daily updates on returned ballots to local jurisdictions.

How are Ingham County absentee ballot voters doing in returning the ballots? Here are screenshots from Byrum’s X account from October 6 to October 12.
