State launches new system to track absentee ballot status

LANSING, Mich. (WILX) - A new electronic notification system is now available for Michigan voters who wish to check the status of their absentee ballots and applications.

To sign up, voters can visit michigan.gov/Vote and select “Subscribe to ballot notifications” from the left-hand column. Once they fill out their voter information, the option to subscribe to email notifications will appear.

Once subscribed, voters will be notified of the following:

When their absentee voter (AV) ballot or application has been received by their local clerk
When their AV ballot has been sent to their local clerk
If their AV ballot or application has been rejected for any deficiency
Instructions for how to cure any deficiency so that their AV ballot or application can be accepted
Voters should note that local clerks do not manage the electronic notification system and cannot make any changes.
A clerk can check to see if a voter is subscribed, but if a voter wants to be removed from the list, they will have to do so themselves by visiting the “unsubscribe” link that will be provided in their email notifications.
