Wayne County says website hit in cyberattack

Wayne County officials said they expect the county website to be back online Friday after a cyberattack disrupted service Wednesday.

In a brief statement Thursday afternoon, county spokesperson Doda Lulgjuraj said the investigation into the incident is ongoing and he expected the website to be fully operational by the start of business Friday.

"This will restore access to online property tax payments and property records," he said.

As of Thursday evening, the county's webpages for the offices of the county prosecutor, treasurer, clerk and register of deeds were all offline. The county's Sheriff's Office website was still up and running.

Authorities have not said who might be behind the attack.
