Arcadia Twp. voters to decide bond proposal

ARACADIA — Arcadia Township voters are being called upon in the Nov. 5 general election to consider a property acquisition bond proposal to borrow $1 million to purchase property adjacent to the township’s Lake Michigan beach recreational area.

If approved, the proposal would be used to pay all or part of the cost of acquiring and improving the property for recreational use.

The bond would be over a 15 year period with the estimated millage to be levied in 2025 of 1.12 mills ($1.12 per $1,000 of taxable value) and the estimated annual millage rate required to retire the bond is 1.1 mills ($1.10 per $1,000 of taxable value).

Township officials said they feel the property has great potential for recreational development and would fit in with the recently remodeled Sunset Station Beach. When the property became available they decided to pursue obtaining it with this bond proposal.
