Kamala Harris to visit Flint
Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris will campaign in Flint on Friday, and Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance will hold two events in Michigan on Wednesday.
The rush of visits, less than five weeks before the Nov. 5 election, points to a close race for the presidency in Michigan, a state that GOP nominee Donald Trump lost by 3 percentage points to Democrat Joe Biden, 48%-51%, four years ago.
Harris, the current vice president, was last in Michigan on Sept. 19 for an appearance with TV host Oprah Winfrey in Farmington Hills. The details of what Harris will be doing on Friday weren't immediately available, but her campaign said she'll be in Flint.
Trump, the former president, participated in a town hall in Flint on Sept. 17. The city in Genesee County has suffered from a drinking water crisis that began a decade ago, during Republican former Gov. Rick Snyder's administration, when a state-appointed emergency manager made a cost-cutting decision to source the city's water from the Flint River instead of Detroit's system.
