Voter Education Workshops helping area voters prepare ahead of election day

FLINT, Mich. (WJRT)—The Flint area League of Women Voters, Mott Community College's Black Professional Alliance, and the Enlighten & Ignite Committee's voter education workshop allowed people like Flint native A. Elaine Greene to ask any questions she has before the November elections.

"I came out because I wanted to learn more about the local voting process," said Greene. "Even though I vote in every election, I knew there's more to be learned."

Wednesday's workshop focused on the power of the local vote.

"Of the 500 thousand people re-elected in this country, nearly 96 percent of them are local officials," said workshop speaker and retired political science professor Paul Rozycki. So local government in a sense is far more important than everything else even though we often don't pay quite enough attention to it."
