Ballots will be recounted after near three-way tie in Argentine Township supervisor race

ARGENTINE TWP., MI -- A three-way photo finish in the Aug. 6 Republican primary election for Argentine Township supervisor will result in a recount by the Genesee Clerk’s Office and the county Board of Canvassers.

Supervisor candidate Jason Kosofsky requested the recount of the township’s three voting precincts as well as absentee ballots from those areas on Thursday, Aug. 15, the same day the canvassers certified election results for the county.

Kosofsky and Mark J. Boyce each finished with 334 votes from Republican voters in the supervisor race, which Robert Cole won with 338 votes. Candidate R.J. Ryan finished with 22 votes.

If the results stand after the recount, Cole would be the only name on the Nov. 5 general election ballot because no Democrat ran for supervisor.
