Climax Township asks voters to renew its fire department millage
KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI -- Voters in Climax Township will be asked to renew a tax to support the local fire department, which was previously approved by voters in 2014.
The 10-year millage renewal request will be on the Tuesday, Aug. 6 election.
The question on ballot is as follows:
Shall the expired previously voted increase in the tax limitation imposed under Article IX, Sec 6 of the Michigan Constitution in Climax Township of 1.5 mills ($1.50 per $1,000 of taxable value), 2014 through 2023 inclusive, and reduced by required millage rollback, be renewed at and increased up to the original voted 1.5 mills ($1.50 per $1,000 of taxable value) to be levied for a period of ten (10) years, 2024-2033 inclusive, for dedicated funding of the Climax Township Fire Department, raising an estimated $135,655.39 in the first year of such levy?
