Almont Community Schools places new bond proposal on Aug. 6 ballot
ALMONT Almont Community Schools is once again asking voters to support a bond proposal that would provide upgrades for facilities and classrooms.
On Aug. 6, the district will have a two-part proposal on the ballot. Part 1 will focus mainly on infrastructure needs at Almont High School (AHS), including safety and security upgrades, HVAC, plumbing and lighting upgrades, site paving, interior and exterior repairs and athletic facility improvements. The first part of the proposal would also cover work at Almont Middle School (AMS) and Orchard Primary, including upgrades to security, sitework for age-appropriate playground equipment, site paving and exterior and interior repairs.
Part 2 of the proposal would focus on construction of eight new STEM classrooms and a connector between the middle school and Orchard Primary and a combined $3.2 million for HVAC upgrades for air conditioning at AMS and Orchard Primary.
If Part 1 and 2 pass, the district would consider allocating $350,000 of additional funding for synthetic turf at the high school football field. If only Part 1 passes, the district would use bond funds to redo the current grass field and make drainage improvements.
