This is nice. Woke up to the sound of thunder. Checked the weather page - no heat warnings of ANY kind listed

The advisories are still in effect just south of Genesee county.

This is about a day early. Two days earlier than what the forecast said a few days ago. Temps in the mid 80's today with a brief bit of morning rain and then the potential for thunderstorms, this afternoon. I turned off the AC.

Saturday will be miserable, but even a 2 day high heat break is much appreciated. Thanks, Mother Nature! Friday will be a busy yard work day for me.

And you can’t say “woke up to the sound of thunder” without putting a “Night Moves” earworm in my brain.

For 2 weeks the forecasters have said we'd have rain and other than a light 2 min. sprinkle, none came. Hallejuliah, we now have clouds and a little rain. It's windy and 10 degrees cooler, so much more livable than it was. We got some rain overnight, but not a lot.
Hoping for more substantial showers today, looks like there's a good chance they will happen this time.

Had the cool weather and now the dome is coming to us starting today. Where I am is on the margin so we get the benefit of having cool air close by such that it makes it here and cools us down just as the severe heat is about to strike... so far this summer. Not always the case. I'm sure there will be triple digit temps and smoke-filled skies soon enough, though. Once the fires west of here get sparked up, everyone around here becomes a two-pack-a-day smoker.

For now, I'm glad the temps are easing for everyone affected. It's a bummer that heat domes hang around for so long, they are terrible.

Enjoy your outdoor work days, I have some garden tending to do today before the serious heat gets here tomorrow.
