They were afraid to have no Republican candidates. Now there are FOUR or them, not counting Bruce Tarr who is making noises. (fourth candidate is little known Jon Fetherston of Ashland)
If they all succeed to qualify, this will make an interesting primary, and may keep the RW leaning independents out of the Democratic primary.
Bielat was beaten by Barney frank, and now Kennedy. What makes him think he can win statewide.

Republican Sean Bielat has entered the U.S. Senate race to succeed former Senator John Kerry, the Associated Press reported on Thursday.
Bielat lost to U.S. Representative Joseph Kennedy III last year in the race for Massachusetts' 4th Congressional District. He also ran for the seat in 2010 and was defeated by incumbent and former Democratic congressman Barney Frank.
According to the AP, Bielat filed papers to create the Sean Bielat for Senate committee with the Federal Election Commission.
Bielat joins fellow Republicans Gabriel Gomez, a businessman and former Navy SEAL from Cohasset, and state Rep. Dan Winslow (R-Norfolk). U.S. Representatives Ed Markey (D-Malden) and Stephen Lynch (D-South Boston) are running on the Democratic side.

In 2006, President George W. Bush appointed Sullivan acting director of the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.
Bush nominated him to become its permanent director, but the nomination was blocked by the U.S. Senate after several Republican senators said Sullivan was too aggressive in enforcing gun laws and refusing to loosen certain gun licensing regulations.

(9,523 posts)He's well known (to me anyway) because Fox25 wanted him to beat Barney Frank and Joe Kennedy, and even though he didn't, he still retains the residual fame, unlike all these other clowns.
