Sad day for the 12th District today...
I have just come home from the visiting hours for Peabody's State Representative, Joyce Spiliotis, who died early Thursday morning after a battle with cancer. Joyce and I actually rarely saw eye to eye, and we disagreed on many things, but I respect that the City's voters elected her both to our City Council and then to the State House.
The Governor, on Thursday, ordered all flags flying on state buildings to be lowered to half staff, and Mayor Bettencourt ordered the same for all city buildings.
Joyce was only 65 years old. She will be missed by many.
