Nearly 3% of Massachusetts voters have already cast ballots for November election

NEEDHAM, Mass. — More than 135,000 voters have already returned their ballots in Massachusetts, with 24 days remaining before the presidential election.

One in every four Bay State voters has requested an early ballot by mail for this election, according to the Secretary of the Commonwealth's office. So far, 1.26 million ballots have been mailed out.

Of those, 135,404 ballots were already returned as of 4 p.m. on Friday. That's 2.7% of the state's total voters.

Mail-in ballots do not necessarily need to be returned by mail. They can also be hand-delivered to a local election office, dropped off at an early voting location or placed in a ballot drop box.
