Illegal dumping in Methuen costs company $152,400
METHUEN Mystic Motor Transportation Co., a Billerica contracting and excavating firm, dumped 185 loads of concrete, bricks and other construction and demolition debris at an illegal dump on Old Ferry Road, according to state Attorney General Maura Healey.
The dumping took place between September 2007 and July 2008, Healey said.
Mystic Motor Transportation has agreed to pay as much as $152,400 to settle the allegations of illegal dumping, the attorney general announced Thursday.
This company is one of several our office has gone after for illegal dumping at this unlawful site in violation of state regulations designed to protect our environment, Healey said. We are pleased this settlement will help fund much-needed cleanup and continue to hold businesses accountable for breaking our solid waste laws.
