$1 million grant will help deserving UMass Dartmouth students pay the bills

DARTMOUTH — A 23-year tradition continues this year as the UMass Dartmouth Foundation is the recipient of $1 million from the Harold G. Lash Revocable Trust.

The late Harold and Virginia Lash were Westport residents with a wish to help deserving students with the lift they need to broaden their college experience, and graduate into a successful career.

In the statement announcing the gift, Vice Chancellor for Advancement Joseph Medina said, it will provide deserving students with a remarkable opportunity to earn a higher education in their chosen field, and then use that education to make their own contribution to the community and society.

“I want to thank the Lash family for its long-standing commitment to UMass Dartmouth and to the idea that education is empowering.”
