BOSTON The reactions continued climbing up Beacon Hill this week with Gov. Charlie Baker weighing in after former Bridgewater State University president Dana Mohler-Faria left his job with a huge sick-time payout.
Baker spoke up after records obtained by The Enterprise's media partner WCVB-TV showed that Massachusetts state workers are cashing in for not calling in sick to work, collecting $157 million since 2006 for unused sick time.
The issue is now before Baker after the Boston Business Journal revealed Mohler-Faria left with nearly $200,000 in unused sick time when he retired last summer part of a $269,000 retirement payout.
"The real kicker for this was the Bridgewater piece, which sort of got everybody's attention, including ours," Baker told WCVBs investigative team.
