Inside ‘The Soiling of Old Glory’ on Herald Radio
Herald Staff Sunday, March 20, 2016

Forty years ago next month, Ted Landsmark’s life changed forever when a protester tried to attack the civil rights activist with a flagpole bearing an American flag.

It came at the height of the city’s anti-busing crisis, and a photo of the attack by a Boston Herald photographer won a Pulitzer Prize.

Beginning tomorrow, Herald reporter Jack Encarnacao tells Landsmark’s story and the lesson “The Soiling of Old Glory” teaches today, in an exclusive three-part Boston Herald Radio “Unfiltered” audio report.

Also, look for Landsmark’s story and photos in the Herald and a video on bostonherald.com on his memory of the indignity of being attacked with an American flag in what he calls “a moment frozen in amber.”
